How Drift works
Quick answers to common questions. Can't find what you need? Contact support.
Getting started
What is a drift?
A drift is a scheduled group run or ride: a start point, a time, a distance and a vibe. Anyone can create one, and people nearby can join.
Why does Drift ask for my location?
To show drifts happening near you and to help you set a meeting point. Location is only used while the app is open. You can say no and still browse and create drifts.
I didn't get my confirmation or password reset email
Check your spam folder, and that you typed your email correctly. Open the link on your phone and it will take you straight into the app. Links expire after a while, so if one doesn't work, request a new one.
Joining drifts
How do I join a drift?
Open the drift and tap Join. Public drifts let you in straight away. For followers-only drifts, the organiser approves each request, and we'll notify you when they do.
Why can't I join?
The drift may be full, may have already started, or the organiser may have declined or removed you.
How do I leave a drift?
Open the drift and tap the join button again. You'll be asked to confirm you want to leave. If you were waiting for approval, the same button withdraws your request.
What is check-in?
When everyone has arrived, the organiser shows a 4-digit code in the app. Enter it to check in and confirm you were there.
Organising
How do I create a drift?
Tap the + button and follow the steps: activity, terrain, start location (you can fine-tune the pin on the map), route, time and details. Then choose who can see it.
Can I edit or cancel my drift?
Yes. Open your drift and use Edit Drift or Cancel Drift. Everyone going is notified, and anyone going gets a reminder about an hour before the start.
Can I remove someone from my drift?
Yes. Organisers can remove participants and delete comments on their own drifts.
Clubs
What are clubs?
Clubs are ongoing groups, like your local running club. Find them under Profile → Clubs or the Clubs button on Discover. Public clubs are open to anyone. Private clubs need an admin to approve you.
How do club drifts work?
Club owners and admins can post drifts to their club, and members are notified. Club drifts are always public.
Safety and privacy
How do I report or block someone?
Use Report on any drift, profile or club (in the club's ⋯ menu), or press and hold a comment to report it. Open someone's profile to Block them. Blocked people can't see your profile or drifts or interact with you. You can unblock them in Settings → Blocked Users. We review every report within 24 hours.
What does a private account do?
People have to request to follow you, and only approved followers can see the drifts and follower lists on your profile. Public drifts you post still show in Discover. Use followers-only for drifts you want to keep to your followers.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete Account. Your profile, drifts, comments and other data are permanently deleted. See our Privacy Policy for details.
